The orchestra was conceived by its Musical Director, Vanessa Brown and inaugurated with the help of Amy Wormald, Arts Development Manager for the Fen Edge Patch.

We have over 20 musicians at this stage and have made our first public appearances at the Fen Edge Family Festival in the summer and at a joint concert with the Bury Friendly Orchestra in Bury St Edmunds on December 1st; New members are welcome at any time, and we would particularly like more string players. You are very welcome to just come along to a rehearsal, see what we’re about, join in if you’d like to or just have a chat.

We have  a committee but always require ad-hoc volunteers who may be called on to help with some of these tasks from time to time:

• Transposing music.
• Driving to collect or return music from the music library in Hertfordshire.
• Other administrative or practical tasks that may be needed from time to time (i.e photo-copying)  As musicians, we are artistic by nature and not necessarily excited by the tasks of administration and management, but the orchestra won’t run itself, so please offer your help.
• Helping to organise events.
